It is advisable to use a safe deposit box if one is available in your hotel or apartment block and only carry the necessary cash with you.
Travellers cheques and cash can be exchanged for euros at the reception of your hotel or apartment block, change bureaux or local banks. To change travellers cheques you will need to show your passport for ID purposes. It is advisable to check that the amount of money you receive corresponds with the exchange rate offered - this changes daily.
Most banks have cash machines which will accept your cash card from home and the instructions on the screen are normally in many languages.
If you use your credit card to pay for goods or services you will usually be asked for proof of ID. Your passport or photocard driving licence are acceptable forms of proof.
